Experimental Folk
MTN EAR produces folk music: intentional, earnest lyrics and melodies lovingly penned by its multiple songwriters. Then, they squish it and wiggle it and swirl it up, allowing those tunes to explode and expand and reveal something new and raw each show.
This combination of traditional roots and experimental improvisation takes MTN EAR to new places each time they play. And play they do. Beyond just performance, they practice true and visceral play.
The songs themselves range in genre, brought by each band member, creating a tapestry of voices and character. From Roger Miller and Neil Young to Ween and Boards of Canada, their influence is a splat of spaghetti on the walls of history.
Tradition is honored and distorted, kissed deeply, and tossed into the air. Let's get weird, folks. Let's get human.
